| | Note | Joanna Hudson was slain, along with her husband Daniel Hudson (b. 1625) , along with two daughters and two grandchildren in the Lancaster, MA Raid of 1697. One-third of the Town of Lancaster was wiped out in that raid and many people taken captive, including Daniel's two daughters, Joanna and Elizbeth, ages 37 and 40. They were never heard from again. The townspeople made a valiant effort to defend their homes during the raid, but many of them were killed, including the above Hudson family. For more information about this raid by the Indians and several other raids in Lancaster, please see Early Records of Lancaster, MA.
There is a question of whether Joanna White, daughter of John and Joan West White, married Daniel Hudson of Lancaster instead of Thomas Fiske. Daniel's wife was named Joanna, but it appears that they had several children before they came to Lancaster, where Joanna White's parents lived, and there is no evidence that Daniel's wife's surname was White.
